Help – Trackback spam

We are new to the WordPress world. While 99.99% of everything in this new land is awesome, there a a few annoyances. The biggest is the literal flood of Trackback link spam from “viral marketing” and “affiliate workers”. We get dozens of track-back link spam to mostly (99%) complete crap links that have nothing to do with our blog posts. Who has a good way of limiting this spam? Is there a way?

Setup the Akimet plugin. It's the best way to deal with spam comments automatically. You'll need to get an API key from them (and probably a Commercial key due to the size of this site) but it works great!

    Yes, Askimet, most definitely!

I found Akismet still let hundreds of spam comments through on my blog. Ryan from FreelanceFlashGames pointed me towards WP-SpamFree, and that slowed it down to a handful per week. Not sure if it's compatible with Disqus.
